We’re Jason and Charlene Katzenback, the founders of Roots To Table. Our story began with a love of hosting, creating, and spending time in nature.

Our Story
It started with a full table.
Good food. Familiar faces. Time to slow down and connect.
For years, we hosted gatherings, dinner parties, and celebrations with friends and family. Charlene became known for her beautiful charcuterie spreads, while Jason loved building things people would be proud to use and share.
Our travels brought us to different countries and cultures, but we kept noticing the same thing: around a dinner table, people slowed down. They shared stories, laughed, and connected.
Back home, surrounded by forests and maple trees, an idea began to take shape. We wanted to make wooden gifts that invited more of those moments into people’s lives... from charcuterie boards and cutting boards to cribbage boards and more.
In Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, that idea took shape in September 2021. After years of learning, testing, and refining, we moved from their garage into a full workshop in October 2024. Today, we work with our team to create pieces people feel proud to give and happy to reach for again and again.

Meet the Founders
A shared belief. Two ways of bringing it to life.
Some of our most cherished childhood memories were made around our families’ tables. As our own family grew, those everyday moments became part of our home, too. They still shape what we make.
Jason focuses on the products and the customer experience: the quality you feel, the details you notice, and the confidence you have when giving one of our pieces.
Charlene leads the creative side of Roots To Table, from the imagery and presentation to the packaging that makes opening a gift feel special.
Together, we care about the whole experience, including the help you receive long after your purchase.
From Forest to Table
The character is in the wood.
The care is in the making.
Each piece begins with carefully selected hardwood. In our workshop, professional woodworking equipment and hands-on craftsmanship turn raw lumber into pieces made for gatherings and everyday use.
We shape, sand, and finish with care, bringing out the natural grain and the details that make each piece its own. Wood varies in color, grain, and character; live edge boards also follow the wood’s natural contours.
From charcuterie and cribbage boards to cutting boards, signs, and tables, our goal is the same: something that feels special in your hands and belongs in the moments you share.

Preset engraving is included. Custom engraving requests may have additional costs; check the options for your chosen product or ask us about your idea.
Care Beyond the Gift
We stand behind what we make.
Our Lifetime Craftsmanship Warranty covers qualifying defects in materials and workmanship under normal household use. It does not cover normal wear, misuse, or improper care; product exclusions apply.
Growing Our Impact
Our roots reach beyond the workshop.
In partnership with veritree, we commit to planting one tree for every board sold. Our reforestation initiative began with a project in Rwanda.
